‘the intoxicating
air of perfect liberty’
ekphrastic after Bosch’s ‘Garden of Earthly
Delights’
you’ve got
to love an earthly delight
it’s on all
fours
as naked as
fruit
a strawberry
delivery
grape
cluster
we hold up a
berry
one leg
rakish
and kiss
we swim with
the fish
tenders
exposed
crustacean
carapace to protect
it has to be
larger than life
a kind of
hell gone right
fed by birds
they come
for your head
and
carelessly
bunch of
flowers in your arse
beat me with
another
we ride on
the backs of weird wild beasts
some take to
a sky
comprised entirely of farts
will you
call such machines?
and what
delight to fly!
how human
these animals are

#1003 - just one more garden of earthly delights

just one more garden of earthly delights
ekphrastic
school of Bosch
gorge strawberry
ride shellfish
pluck
feed me
hold
come kiss
bathers ready to go
some in a tree
and all eyes up
flowers grow from the fundament
here’s an owl’s moustache
beat me with such
face the rat in the glass
little balls drop from God knows where
the fruit have tails
and so much skin to dare
gymnastic innocents
pokey out bits
go goatly
peer from your box
grapes bunch
at the ready
rode the insects here, lamp head
come into the shell and fart bubbles
call it cornucope
all open mouthed with awe about
nor ever yet post-coitus calm
what owl and vanish, ravishment
what towers of flesh
some unicorn
and mermaid acrobats
everyone was here
futures are at the top of the picture
where creatures are taking off
(the fish were always going to give in to flight)
we come from and to dark times
and the moral of the story –
nothing earthly is delight
