how many pumpkins are hiding here?

#92 - best medicine

1.4.20
92
best medicine
on All Fools Day

do you come here often?
everyone’s home now

double dare you

and this is exactly where you can…

play the corona game
it’s all done with predictions

how long till this that the other?

when will you pay me
say the bills that all plague me?
when will the ASX come home?
big boots at the helm
long holiday from democracy

spare me a light, buddy?
better, a dime
they can turn on you
these days

come on, cough up
stroke my pun
exercise your favourite fear
deepest secret
funniest terror

who’s the most powerful in the world?

how grim was your reaper?

when’s my next meal out?

why worry?
what’s in the garden today?

don’t sniffle
wash hands for twenty minutes
every twenty seconds

try your best Trump impression

or
‘those who are about to die’
may suit you?
up thumbs and oops
bring me my respirator!

see how we fidget with
nothing gets done

hide and please don’t seek me

but
today’s the day I go viral
(in a good way)

I launch myself
make lunch hour legend

catch a virus by the ear
I do the mirror vanish here

just one day in the missing year

#91 - orchestra of distances

31.3.20
91
orchestra of distances

as sometimes in the rain
you feel grace mercy fallen from

played with light
over the mask

through every tree singing
each in other’s eyes
hello

here’s long ago
and there is far
yonder for for instance
hills over away
too far to touch
but here’s my voice

world wide again

gather my thoughts and belongings here
back in the box
with all of the toys
you know where I am

as if until
all echo-hearted
every bird up

listening in
arrow it
guess meaning

say
tunes are of the turning
time is of the earth

word lit merely
pick up this strum

your precious-to-me breath
and I am mostly what?

silence on to hysterics
some have called it conversation
by whatever means

in a tongue
hold to
remember when

every tree is singing
and all the birds for up

now we know the simple news
all events are rare

see around
this strange notation
none otherwise have known

yearn for the empty one
smudge fudge it
feel you’re here

and lay me down
to dream it off

moment of sunshine
come won’t you drop
these heavy worlds
light away with me

an orchestra of one

#90 - a moment of sunshine around the garden

30.3.20
90
a moment of sunshine around the garden

meaning leaf to another
where the notes fall
each over other
and trickle, pond, well

strikes me like a tune
the signature
in spare time

a certain hour
I’ll not say

creature every one anointed
must be the moment

remember when weather knew nothing of us?
went merrily on

is it flutter or flight?

I am the camera
slow to a sadness
who isn’t there

peer into lit bits
and where unexpected

standing time still

by hook by claw
by tooth and nail

these are the clothes to which I am suited
it’s with myself I go

could be there with you
it’s only we two now
pause, vanish

see how insects are upwardly mobile?
and air
hangs like hope
over our heads

hold back the branches and pass

sometimes scythe, machete, trowel
shovel, mattock, fork

despite cutbacks
the garden remains
sufficient to itself

look up will won’t you?

nests hidden
plain sight pumpkins
vine shy under

in a mist meaning
ears all night out for
the running of the creek

never yet named
but two months now
belonging

where will it come from?

it’s here where I’m always
on my way home

of course we have wings
salt over the shoulder

it’s head of a pin
all of us dance

this is the news
I bring

#89 - around the rain

29.3.20
89
around the rain
for ataraxia and/or godsbother

a garden wrapped
as if a prayer were purposed

dust’s nothing
thirst and itch – we’re mud

under and over
so wallaby with

rain got into certain places to ache
took tea to pass so hoofed

tending all this while
as if a lens were laid

in each round
atom planet fall

in mist fence went
like music

all of us to catch
a forest of the stuff

and all the green of risings then
the flowers, frange and citrus leaf

palm poised and ferning waxy
umbrella is a tree too

we were doing a little dance for
and later swim, take bath in it

someone thought bud up now
and someone thought soon flower

this pub was open all hours
every body drinking

you’d almost think a fire inside
but it was lovely out

rugged and brolly up for
of course one was lost

in timber instance brinking with
and upward eyes in leaf

here is the rain
in person perhaps

wink from all the crew
‘we’re wet’

an insect landed asking
and wondered who I am

someone so birdily singing
simple as forever was

and is, will be
snails paced it out

ducks spoke the loudly joy of splash

shy clefted clouding
in mulberry’s first glimmer
all waiting to be lit

and all this
no one did it
I cannot help but praise

#88 - eerily idyllic

28.3.20
88
eerily idyllic

home
that’s the new sublime

kind of a dream
we find ourselves gone to

and take a big breath
coming, ready or not

symptoms imagine us
under we go

still standing
standing under
a tissue and all fall
undergo

in the birded world
sway, tip
there’s upside

and when the clock stopped
we left it like that
left it alone

perhaps meaning the time had come

stopped clock
points to a lucky numbness
to us
says here now surely

cryogeny
(and what’s it got to do with Ireland?)

dream toilet paper wars
and all around the lockdown
zeitgeisties
stay in stay out

that’s how come
and so we ask it
how far to a sunny day?
