and are we in forever

when we are out of time?

 

think of a shadow

cast to shift

 

not us but where we’ve gone

we are forbidden

calendars, clocks

 

we live into forgetting

 

many more than are

we once

 

and where from?

no one knows

 

much guess

some call to law

and monument

 

all bluff

the map’s long lost

 

embodied

one would ask then

what’s that foot thinking?

how the teeth?

 

now think of a shifting shadow

 

here’s how the hunger tells

 

and are we in forever

when we are out of time?

 

when here there

everywhere
