sumer is icumen in
a creek run in the after rain
took a while but now we’re there
bright first day of the world!
the singing to me is morning again
but never as before
I love an upside down bird
many and many the parts
brave light to see what stands
green the furling and the creek still flows
each leaf a kind of catching
wallaby waiting on my next move
everyone learning to swim for the shade
here at home the world will turn
day layered, voices took to flower
nothing ever stops healing this place
headful and heartful, lungful of
valley because river, river because creek
creek out of puddle, by rain
and, tell me, who hasn’t been so shone?
can’t you see?
all we have now is time
