#616 - no one finds a way back

no one finds a way back

take the past as done

glimmer and inkling is all

this is where you are from

I’m afraid

who’s there to hold up

the roof and the walls?

go on from your door

you know you will

track leads into a vanishing next

and find your way by fluke

I mean that footsteps sink behind you

as do memories of the gone

you’re here now with these words

what a waste!

tug at a thread

it’s the daylight unravels

the practised dark remains

o pride!

I swung an axe in there

I sang

the craft were shining

boulders were thrown

a postcard from whisperland

big sneeze

it’s as if you could touch

as if you were held

the waking always wonder

but the dream comes to us fits and starts

there are those seeking for cessation

but this is the privilege of time

it’s as if somewhere

I left my camera, my phone

from my door there’s nowhere to go

I mean there’s nowhere but the way

why seek? everything of the age is here –

the viruses, the microplastics

is there a corner out of the picture?

is there anywhere left to paint?

this is the needle’s eye camel trope

so show me the riches then

25 words or less – I’m ready for

my damnation come lightly

if only I’d had a camera

if only I’d brought my phone

you can never guess where you will wake

or if there will be a new day

everywhere leads me

everywhere home

there’s nowhere else in this world to go

and this is the human curse

there’s nowhere but the way
