wilderness song

an umpteenth revision

let everything go wild today

sleep to dream

and

wake to play

let day be

where light falls

sing of a morning

first thing birds

come all a-flit, afoot

let everything go wild today

have pleasant wander with

let tangle

let away

time is all we take here

no one need remember

so let a world turn

take its round

vine to up

leaf to furl

let everything grow wild today

let things all be, abound

and creature it with them

feather it in branches

bud to flower

let fall

let to its own devices, thing

let dooms of labour all be done

sand in the between toes

winter in the socks

what fun!

and Christmas it with me here

with bunny eggs

and no one died

wherever it is you are from

burrow, hutch, nest

den, lair, lodge

let all go their wild way

take trees in the wisdom of up

uncut

nor are the clouds foregone

let the spirits call our names

and make our summons so

let everything go wild today

let everyone be welcome

turn kingdoms upside down

burn borders

and let the garden get away

let bush

let rain, sun fall

it’s all of us here for the conversation

please make yourself at home

in this world

that’s everywhere there is

and nowhere else to go

on tip toe stretch

and then on wing

receive the good things given

bring what’s yours to bring

tend all

and so be tended

let the song tell where

we’re from

and where there is go

let everything go wild today

so

let us dance

let’s sing

the light comes early now

sing of a morning

first birds

I, many, various

forgetting how

from whom to nowhere

they’ll say an age of me long since

and to the risen task – a fit?

the new – the undiscovered creature

comes up through branches of the dawn

all there for not remembering

never the words of the song

of mind aflit

afloat

my difference is to remember the dreaming

never what I’ve dreamt
