deluge
ekphrastic
for Kandinsky’s 1913 ‘Landscape with Rain’
all of it is falling
something stood like spears
to make appearance random
it’s the rain dissolves
village river bright
overbanking
a sudden colour tide
there’s afternoon of it
rain makes illegible
house reduced to float
who’ll find the lost sun?
a sky breaks into falling
wherever the eye would climb
strokes of the rain
shapes take
who’s to catch?
it must not mean
it does
all of this is smoke
