creek lit
Gore Cove Track
Series
track once
creek lit
once must never have known where to go
still followed
paws after
road over
train roar
how the city comes and goes
someone is walking their creature
tugged on
slippery in the after
rising in sun hopes
clean once
when there was no way
but any to go
today
track collects what’s left –
a spare sock, now plastic
wrappings of time
muddy the hindpaws
even so stillness
every day come back
it’s a different sky
you might here trickle
this was once too
watch where you’re going
and whose home here?
you could call all of it singing
it’s here
nowhere to end
to begin
there’s just this way that
low wing and lift
the flock and flow
when you climb up out of the creek
it will take your breath away
