#1000 - prescience

2.x.22

1000

3.274

prescience

(a mock messianism)

for Day 1000 of Our Kit

(or in the Old Calendar [starting at the beginning of 366], Day 2460)

in Budapest, across the road from Nyugati

I’m gonna tell you how it’s gonna be

                        – ‘Not Fade Away’

blink of an eye

we’re here

and how’d that happen?

in the future everywhere will be somewhere else

it’s actually already going on

time was always distance anyway

we just need to look through the windscreen

this is a kind of a Nostra-kit-mus thing –

let’s see – in five years time

your car – your petrol beast –

will be worth next to nothing

because you know cause why

every road will be a collector

maybe that’s ten years

but you get the idea

easy peasy

problems solved

on the other hand

cane toads will rain down upon Queensland

and some will say retribution

twenty years from now Bangla Desh will be under

crocodiles will reach the Arctic

hmmm might take thirty

Putin may still be czar

Trump will be much the same

but bionic, so permanent

they’ll still be defending ‘democracy’

from all our deepest fears

plagues of then will be something

but that will be the least of our worries

a wailing and a gnashing of Chaucerian tethe

they will ride sparrows and monkeys will sing

but, as I say, all sorts of problems will have been solved

a century from now, Mars will be a cool place

Venus much less of a sauna than presently

we’ll live in the clouds with cuckoos there

money will be just what you imagine

you’ll be able to buy time

you’ll watch the Big Bang

on your own telescope at home

action replays, slow-mo

full res hologram of course

the real deal

in the Year 2500 all of the moons of Saturn will be fully inhabited

but it’s not what you think

in fact there will be terrible congestion in the inner rings

in the Year 2525 someone will dig up that song

there will still be some mobile coverage problems on ‘dark sides’

certain solid gold asteroids will Ponsy bubble

pharaohs will be found living when we reach A Centauri

no one will be surprised

five hundred years from now

COVID 1900 will still be circulating

but we will have evolved a mask fold

noses will have been sneezed away

in a thousand years time the wording ‘faster than light travel’

will go as unremarked as ‘heavier than air travel’ goes today

still some will travel thoughtlessly

and most go by bubble

or will simply be there already

because, you’ll have to ask me later

the number of things we will do without thinking must have greatly multiplied

we will power the solar system out of the way of a black hole

by means of Dyson Sphere

(phew! close call)

approaching the year 4000

questions remain

and they will be asked in Esperanto

will there be silliness, disrobing?

will flesh touch flesh again?

the universe will still be expanding

you might think of that as a given

but nothing lasts forever you know

droids will remember their avatars

in tearful ceremonies, elaborate too

but ‘places’ won’t be what you think

into the sixth millennium

the Fifteenth Coming

(prophets named after towns in the mid-west)

COVID 19000 & etc

there will only be chosen distractions

the holy cursor will be lost

the gods will have been brought to justice for crime in a general sense

computers will wait for people in that time

we will all know why we’re here

or if there’s really nothing to know

then, by then, we’ll know

but it’s not all good news, is it?

many have vanished in the attempt

no one yet will have found the Still Centre

someone will still have a cough, runny nose

the Truth will not have been found

I’d hate to practice hybris and never be accused

blink of an eye – that’s how!

and you tell me over and over and over again my friend

here today and gone tomorrow –

who’ll say ‘told you so?’

I see your cynical expression

but go on, prove me wrong!
