magic
cave
a
further meditation for my friends Matthew Power and Anna Fenyvesi
a magic cave the head is
full of up to tricks
as far as wide
as sea laps in
all there is to know
overrun with rumours
hunch and which wind
will it blow
spells and whispers
gossip, griefs
someone comes knocking
then who’ll be home?
hid from someone
in a dream in there
because there are dimensions
and time is tangled too
pictures from here always perfect
where I hide and seek
drawbridge up
and language for horizon
aliens despair
come to me next vision, thought
let’s call an idea
it’s river misted where we land
to bring our craft ashore
where all that was comes echoing
all guess what will be
but mine, as each, is special
it shelters from the rain
it lets the sunshine in
my head floats off one day
yours too
and so all our longing’s lost
some say soul
and some say brain
but I pay them no mind
some stand upstairs to witness this
and some among a tree
the music makes my head go round
home of thought though skull is
it’s otherwise heart’s free
