Bago Maze
it is a garden of one
trick
clipped circles
lilly pilly curves
(hot flush)
discover a disability
I am where we’ll be
and were
come again
some have in such
shadows cast
and yet a hat for sun
no thankful map
but breeze
so whiff of way
some rooms are carved
from a childhood
from elsewhere otherwise
maze changes directions
as you go
so you become the
riddle
come by the bottleneck
imagine peak hour
blind leading
there’s a trick to it
alright
a break in the day
and slip through
guess again
hello, who’s there?
you know the wrong way
follow your nose
through the deer-rattle
woods
to the gingerbread
clearing
and mustn’t crawl
through
though creatures will
have
hear footfalls of the
lost, not far
this is what we came
for
everywhere dead ends
somewhere see-past
arches
a bright parrot landing
pennants fly
come by bottleneck
and met in a maze
for let’s say a story
of course it must
always defy logic
if only the streets had
names
ah, but there’s only
one
like an ocean laid dry
like a river run
laughter over our heads
–
a kookaburra knows
where it is
needn’t ever go far
above the clouds come
and go freely
trick of the stream
trips us out
here to do a job
go all the ways there
are
bright the blue wren air
we are the only ones
here
