heavy lifting
or
thinking of all of the gone
an Easter misery of religion
(for godsbother)
sad for Jesus
sad for Caesar
sad for the mums and dads
close in those
each beats a heart
our knowing there
where from and where we go
so sad in the fear and wallow
weep for the bones so flesh them
years since sex
the hand still held
now ache
now bone
sad for all the thieves, disciples
watching at home
now ash
now gone
now and in the wallow hour
this suffering whiff
the misery chords
a single heartstring plucked
fact of an absence for matter most
here’s grief made good
a life’s work
sorry for whom
for selves? so say
pray for souls
heavy lifting!
some days the world has the weight
of the hundred billion of us gone
humans, I mean
sometimes there’s let’s call it indigestion
the heft of the seventy billion animals
the humans murder for dinner each year
not counting the fish of course
