#336 - poem for international day of people with disability

336

poem for international day of people with disability

if I were one limb less

or any other instance –

eye down, ear out –

there’d still be all the rest of human

doesn’t have to be a race

animal too

by rights lit alive

love feeling

except when it hurts

if challenged for kilter or rocker off

too many roos

neither full quid

say sixes and sevens

please pay me in guineas then

I like a last shilling to chew

if off my food en-tube me

and something pleasing for the drip

come clowns and entertain

my very death might yet be far

so neither here nor there

if post-accident

or something in the blood can’t help

and how much more would home mean then?

a jacaranda strew, weeds high

words to mind and tunes as well

certain jabs, pills needed

seasons all as real

and moreso

a hand with this that then

and see in my face as far

not a freak occurrence you know

we’re talking one in five

how many of us suffer from kindness?

if I couldn’t get dressed without batman

aides-de-camp required

I’d expect respect, won’t you?

if I’m ever locked in

please knock

and tele-emp me pictures, music

puzzles

I’d like a good old barney

and all forgiven then

imagine me back

because you waited

all tongue tip chess

and Stephen Hawking

answer’s 42

what is there but relativity?

a spider pities six legs missing

and can’t even run up a wall

skip toxic positivity –

the blame before a fall

no state but could be otherwise

nowhere to hide but have your say

please tell me that you’ll love me till

there’s no one left to love

just like any everyone

I’d like to have my day
