#272 - I love my tribe

26.x.20

272

I love my tribe

a brawl in mud

beer after

will it cheer me on?

cryptic in numbers

enough for forever

and that is where we go

wave madly

the singing is to trick

will my tribe know

how it got home?

spot the difference

guess the weather

guess who

guess again

and aren’t we just the harmless creatures?

my tribe is passing the time

and hand of cards

cricket scores crossing the desert

tickle under here

stern shoulder

step up

and on your marks

a topple off overdoing

we are the ones who are following orders

love a tale to tell and bury

shine the trophy now

take medals

a keg of flag

and singing tricks

tribe was always a murder

I ask you – will a biscuit kill me?

keep those bloody flies out

here are the woods of our word on fire

come through the catastrophe

hand out some scones

blame the weather again

why not?

the weather blames us too

game’s on

we’ll see who wins

I had an idea I had an idea

but that couldn’t have been

it’s the song to trick

lean in

that was a corner just now

no one knew

and here we are cause here we are

caught with some few of the symptoms again

somehow not quite right

all through history you’ll notice

how it might have been us

lucky break a forward pass

my tribe it has the ball

and sometimes plural

which way to run?

an angry shout

was it not always tributary?

only got a mention

the podium is coal

tribe of thieves and all denial

have to love them though

because we have to guess

can’t know

it’s tattooed on my future too

a slur and othering

wasn’t that a dainty cup to set before…

the storm is partying

may girls tribe too

or merely mother?

some say soldier on

we are a precipice together

better worse wrong right

country that was never mine

just happened

it is topped with an absence

all sing

have an accident

bank that

think of that island where we have sunk them

think of the helpless – you’ll drown

never dare though ask the tribe

will it cheer me on?

will it ever?

will it cheer on one like me?
