#35 - a quiet life and briefly

4.2.20
35
two poems

a quiet life and briefly

come along with me

upward of some number lived
and fenced from
numberless as

come along
to where the names are known

tell tides come for
go in fear of

thrown together till

these arts for my eternity
inch along under

someone is singing under this heart
no one sees in
but here’s the key

I’m waking the picture again

there is no view from there

go down in the truth
where so often lost

it’s meal to meal
and make a lovely allegory

come along with me
to the somewhere past smoke

under the weight of all opinion

and how are these moments for you?
it’s better not to judge

passing from this world to nowhere

cough quieted
aches down

as if travelling with this little kit
and bring a better place along

say ‘faith’ – keep that
lost to the dream

what I’ll do next
and who I’ll be

having lived in the fires so long
how could I go out?

again the weather
predicting me

drift to the deeps where drowning
‘if there’s a product you can’t see’

the flash of all before is
moment for its own unending

and here’s anathema for fact
they say… joy of it

knowing the damage already done
upload, download, I’m not sure

last limbs of mine hug close
what’s not required on the voyage –

that will be you and me

again the weather
predicting me

what I’ll do next
and who I’ll be

flash of all before is
moment for its own unending
