#2335 -- at Jilliby Castle

at Jilliby Castle

poem for fifty years of the P & R molecule

wishing you parrot bright

blissed mists

clear air

everything golden this year

with tractor magic

paint, strings, keys

and all the honest tricks of weather

drift of days to whim

blue skies

and sun gathered in

it powers the dream

fruitrise and swim

all this with infinite care

no deity to oversee

no demons here

though there’s some fine vintage red from the cellar

an ancient horse

creek older yet

we chew the fat

drowse off

it’s all of the remembered past

carries us away

there will be morning to invent

still set out fresh for mystery

who knows what day might do

more pond, more stone

sheds, roofs out your ears

mind is excavation

slap up something here there

welcome to all seasons

in winter let the whole house snug

in summer, tickle breezes

let every chair find its bum

in this one can believe

wishing you parrot bright

blissed mists

clear air

everything golden this year
