two blues
ekphrastic for
Sue Rawlinson’s ‘Backyard, Randwick’
current exhibition at the Shop Gallery, Glebe
it’s not like that anymore
old roof and new
shade hung
there is a crawl hole hutch
irregular – imagine a rabbit
the eye goes to
even the grass, a sidle up
you could repaint this wall
two blues, and neither night
branch bright, fit to spin
windless, this moment
nor leaf to show
nor trouser, skirt to hoist
from over the fence
an angry shout
there’s just us looking in
there’s no one looking out
