what does the creek remember?
Gore Cove Track Series
shelves of
stone
as timber
down
take out the
tide
laps in
make way for
the powerful owl
here to
remember what will be
make pace to
suit what grows
wait for the
day to interrupt
all of this
third person
the city
like a picture of money
each
laughing at the others
to vanish in
a puff
it’s like
there’s an upstairs
climb as you
will
everything
tumbles to here
into place
some fall to
rot
some rot to
fall
there’s
still a bounce
what does
the creek remember?
nothing but
the rush of cloud
the old
stone washed
the turkey
brushes its way
watch my
step
and it’s
gone
