big yella’s back
it’s been tough
we’ve had to make our own sun here
anything yellow would help
old socks
and sometimes a toe shows through
remembered gleam
old tins of it
and spray
a muddy sun
at least it was ours
but now big yella’s back
you’d think a little sheepish
after all this time
no way!
way!
it’s a glare eyed creature
sudden skyfull
does that shine and glisten thing
that’s first phase of the sun
you’d like to drive this chariot but
those reins are really hot
shines on this page where I write
how’d-you-do?
and I wonder, big yellow –
how do you do this blue?
now see all
the bee and the bushrat
blink and gone
a flowering out of the rain
this fellow’s here to show worlds to
themselves
here to make all things new
