serious rain event
or
hello La Niña
the unceasing
and onslaught thereof
all the parts
of day involved
well up over
what was a road
bucket under
drip
brief pause
and then
there’s more
till every
river overbanks
till time’s
awash with roar
watch grass
rise, go under
hopes wash
away
it’s all
afloat
or all aboard
you might think
we wished it upon ourselves
but the head
can’t soak this up
how now all
bodies are water
it’s the come
again rain
and never
left
it doesn’t
really stop
the
existential rain –
was raining,
it was and it will
what bird
dares raise a voice against?
who’ll set
out, galoshes?
wet socks
therein
meant to fix
that hole
thanks not to
be at sea
thanks not to
be in a leaking tent tonight
can’t beat ’em
join ’em
run a bath
by thunder
not as fast
as the tank spills
we’re only
made of mist
so an almost
sun says
sky’s just
about open for business again
just when you
think
but no
