sleeping people
for the dream book
elswhere aware
always at their presents early
intimate, alone
they forget by themselves
my wallet for instance
found cash in a drawer
where were the toilets I knew?
rude thoughts
sleeping people
may only be dream blamed
never meant to tug the covers off
jacaranda strew woke to
they dribble and they snore
imagine who
nor can it be helped
better among a certain thing since
clouds creep like chords to colour
sleeping people
are fallen far among the stars
no pants required for this
nor foot to pedal touch
no wheels
no words
it’s as if a life could be folded away
we with all the gone
just a thing we say
people asleep
even to the farthest spark they dizzy
that’s well back before
it’s next year in Jerusalem
we shall return one day
