two for the Gore Cove Track Series
towards
a solstice
I like the air loud with wishes
fair bright the harbour
shadows, moss
some stick insect skitter
root smoothing
tall breezes
how lazy long an afternoon
wings while the light allows
there are puddles
it’s ants who’ve taken the day apart
they travel through the picture
I’m making
fresh green tips of last month’s rain
every bird hastens to say
tide in or out
it’s never the same way
some of the mighty girded in bark
I’ve decided to waste my time here
from jacaranda strew
crooked steps
mud run of the
creek
stags and elks
ferns to drip
and the train
like time
over our heads
for this last
light
roar of it all
