mindful here where

 

late birds singing footfalls on

 

raucous edge to which

 

a kind of clamber track until

 

fern to moss to lichen

 

the roar is all around

 

and like a stain of sky

 

all of it is conversation

 

careful with this skin of air

 

with all we have to breathe

 

we walk until we’re gone
