loose cherubs in the folds

a three hander

calvary, obelisk, alphabet

chariot wheels

cannons to lounge

all conquest, much vicarious

Europe on a marble throne

and paints the globe

banners, ducks, clouds

here’s an ostrich arrested for fancy

spears and trumpets, legs poke out

no one can tell where the stucco starts

a finger points to the picture of the patron in the picture

surveys the barbarian elsewhere

all continents but ours -- the comedy

great chains just for being

not quite as high as Apollo who rules

horses highest

loyalty is a dog

everything allegoric

but

four liters of wine a day to power

lay on their backs to make this dream

bombs fall

the miracle surviving

a day of rain beyond

no telling where the picture ends
