#304 - remembering to breathe

304

remembering to breathe

as with the first light shock

of must be unremembered world

a region of the brain kicked in

I illustrate without a colour

catching of course

the emptiness

no air sweeter

now we go through the moves

take time

dust thick drawn

equally under mask

or weight of obligation

elementally composed

all through the blood

lovely atmosphere

count in out

bring breeze to each lonely cell

a rattle clamouring

against yawn gasp

in lovelight

very act thereof

become bellows

then when the needle goes in

remember

deep in the didge

and sabacthani gargle

icy water

tropic thick

come up ashore

two lungs at a time

feed a fire

and starve a furnace

so many breathless reasons

draw shadows on

so see the breeze

under some turning

or weighty tome

calm fitful

all through the dream I remember

how much I have lost there

stop to catch

all towards a last

forsaking

then open a window

and think
