#161 - metropolis

11.6.20
161
metropolis

the city
 untune-able
whim gathering

but life is larger
round we go

medley of moods
numb encounters

someone is drilling
above me, below

the tunnel in its train
this least between worlds

the city runs over the page
out of time

runs up a graph to strike

music in the waters
lightning strikes twice

by accident
I am
you too

arrows which and every way

wonder in each wish

someone decided
so much of the city unsaid

a now show
here and tell

nothing forever reminds us

cars parked underwater dreaming

bush gully betweening
and I hear the song

it is far winged
call country

dark secrets broaden the scope

the city
unknown to itself
under hours

sits up on haunches to bay
so it’s ours
wouldn’t you?

dumb luck

and the ice is slow
a river rises over

here is thunder too
gods’ laughter over the city

larger than lives
the clock of this

antics of a heap we see
all from eternity’s squint eye

three taps of the baton
we’re in the illusion

busy with, breathless

writing out lines
and repeat after me

is racing itself to the finish and bitter

everything will be improved
come back in the hundred
the thousand years
see
a forest here shining
where the city should be
