#157 - less, less

7.6.20

157

less, less

so few to us the years now

shrink from the world

shrinks too

deserts are all for eternity

seas choked

less fish

before the doodle – tea stain

before the first words – song

hunger before appetite

before first steps – this dance

sing soul, you never were

and won’t be

seasons, same in number

less of them to go

shall we forest it up with the leavings?

let birds?

let insects whirr?

music and first fading

beetle heaves

roaches cover

ants bear burden on

sing with me

softly softly so

less of the sun rise set

fewer moon

more bodies

more of the truth to tell

much bone

in so many words or fewer

less of a prize to win

bigger the fire

the less we’ll be

the higher the number

the more we’ve consumed

so it goes

less teeth

less taste

less feeling

the more you know the less

always further to fall

these are thoughts to winter with

more ironies!

everything further

clock runs out of steam

pile smoke

stare in

less crops – the paddock

call broad acre

less families forage

up in high branches

everywhere fewer trees

come axe to myself

mere shadow at last

less creatures, all kinds

more of ours though

take dog and cat

come mouse and rat

less of a spire to church

and pray

more of the credulous

sing soul, you never were

and won’t be

all that stands is this one day

less tongues – less means of meaning

always more words

less conversation

disease? is it me?

am I viral strain?

come cancer

dance me

now less time for healing

and is it more?

as has been said

maybe stars are

maybe still expanding

explode and one more less

now maybe always ever further from

then I must follow

it must

must lessen myself

make past of

what monument I’ll be

faster, blink and gone
