on oxen watch
with angel over
gossip in windows
how a rumour starts
roof thatched through
with rain aghast
monster playful
ladder light
in hay for glow
horns can’t be helped
long ears thrown back
by donkey calm
so many hands to it
and the wooded world
all falling to this nakedness
the Christing of this world
