#26 - any other day

26th January
26
any other day

or
change the tone
that’s the choice

fly the tatter elsewhere flag
smoke our stars away

who knows the place?
who decides?

hot fire
cold fire
fly the wind

sad to nation
come and go

burn village, crops
they never were

a bash for the vanishing
chatter and

imagine aliens beam down
a locust lot to party
you cannot even list what’s gone
insurance mob will laugh it off
and out of court

no one will remember

one among the kingdoms
fine print

(they come and go like species
faster)

still wave the tatter flag to be

mix up the blood so we’re one
but some remember death done to

imagine casting off a continent
slap on a new coat

theft!
you have no grander scale

left a window open
whole of the house was
windows, doors

tatter to air

treasures all around us burn

any map is treasure

can’t even see the neighbours

can’t see the creatures now

mourn the billion under words
gone in the fires today

Shorter version:

and out of court

no one to remember

treasures all around us burn

any map is treasure

can’t even see the neighbours

can’t see the creatures now

mourn the billion under words
gone in the fires today

the pickouts

smoke our stars away

#25 - take waking

25th January, 2020
25
take waking

why not?
and up to where?

let day strike dawn upon
bird blear

every colour sung

still among still in
dreamt when

of course because
lost to world was

as if
a light from shining

this only trace
the book

#24 - dreamt the rain

24th January
24
dreamt the rain

all kinds of things consisting

took it along in buckets
to favourites

through veils of it dawn sung

was a touching thing

dreamt the rain down
fell with it too

and steadily
to thick the air
like anything we wish

wet sponge
and someone squeezing out
dreamt stairs up

among the all boats float
slept on

sat on a seesaw with
rattling gadget of

set sail in
kept cargo
gathered dark to dream

a cloud called

felt it falling
leaves spun
in the dream
tree rose so

and all along
all along

stashed for a sunny day thought
when lizard bright come in

so simple for the rhythm
so far down in the song

would have woken to
lulled, swum

age of it
silver till mud

ear to the gauge I pressed
and heard the roaring sea

#23 - a tussle with

23rd January

23
a tussle with

selves say
back of the bottom drawer
when only the best

I typed a way into the truth
clatter bang
it was a spectacle nobody saw

echo
little elves
and later silent

that was to begin
went on so

finer and finer
by caveat come
and kingdom
by postit
isn’t that all the time?

bones under the skin
fell out of touch
just as the ashes are scattered

scraped and clawed
so tricked my way in
scrubbed till the thing shone
and I could say mine

time was all before me
now struggle to recall a name
and time went on instead

I painted the dream
as well as remembered

it was a way to go
fell out of
in a tussle with
here’s furniture all over the shop

till touching palms pressed as

signed it on the dotted line
ran one through it too
(truth’s over)

rung like a bell till I heard myself think

there was a breeze in its branches, the truth
and done with
strummed a sun come out
preened knowing
you’d seen me there
I, you
it was the nod
and must have been

shone in the afterglow
