52 blue
(instersetllar)
for Al Munro
The saddest sound I've
ever heard
– Eric Bogle
our jukebox in the vast and far
this wilderness a voice
calling still calling
into the ink
a sewn up sea
plash plankton
this is the journey from nowhere to nowhere
no one ever sees
when’s a line straight?
as far from fear as
who’ll say ‘up the spout’?
time is the barnacle
it’s bigger than the sea
the voyage
here’s a portable whale?
who’s inside?
what have they swallowed?
it’s always further
every line’s a circle somewhere
some say deep of soul
almost all of this by instinct
and is the yonder blue after all?
it’s the wrong side of the sea
region where nothing, go on
lost wherever
deep dark
as far as we’re concerned
who’s listening?
who can read?
in the far
years to measure
one sextillion till the next star
