ĉi tiu pentraĵo havas multajn nomojn

neniu el ili donita de Goya

tamen ni diru, ke la hundo devas droni

tiel ke ni bezonas nenian argumenton pri tio...

 

esti dronita en forta sunbrilo

en mallumo, en oro

 

sed tiu nazo ankoraŭ ne estas sub

ne ĉiuj ĉi jaroj dronigos la hundon

okuloj devas malĝoji pro io malaperinta

apartenanta al tiu, kiu estas amata

 

la ĉielo estas oro

la akvo oro

 

ŝi taŭgus al ajna tasko

naĝi ajnan maron

se ni nur scius nomon por voki

ankoraŭ estus bastono, kiun ŝi povus porti

this painting has many names

none of them given by Goya

let's say though that the dog is to drown

for the sake of not argument

to be drowned in strong sunshine

in darkness, in gold

 

but that nose is not yet under

not all these years will drown the dog

eyes must grieve for something gone

belonging to the one that's loved

 

the sky is gold

the water gold

 

she would be apt to any task

swim any given sea

if only we knew a name to call

there would still be a stick to retrieve
