#1790 - here we are

1790

5.328

24.xi.24

here we are

a concert piece for Elisha Redmond’s ‘silver shrike’

these wings in that rain

spread like hands across

stream and up

over us leaf

a beam slant

sun by the falls

above each note, this next

and, as to stone, a hammer of time

after, for shade resounding

these wings in this

whim, gully slip

the eyes abroad

stairs up through air

traipse down too

whiff of it

trailing the day

and make

heart more than meant

mist clearing

then the far

the wings

to a stillness fit

#1789 - instinct

1789

5.327

23.xi.24

instinct

for wise surprise

back there becoming

deep in a secret dark

it’s brittle

take the words as they come

where we come apart

take cloud from the head

when with love we’ll call it

bird full of tree chatter

there’s a ladder just struck

shining where we are

alert to the turns of the world

by rag by brush by scratch stick

you could break a heart on this

paint over the day to be here

#1787 - when I was animal alive

1787

5.325

21.xi.24

when I was animal alive

much bitten

shade cast

hot, cold, grown over

all you others too

here was our sudden time of year

we were slow to the moment

laughing it past

yet to arrive

others told up light

fine webs

a fuss of petal fallen

so many ways of a thing awry

feet on the ground

nose led

had run of the place

tail to chase

where was the music from then?

none of this

who we ought to be

had the eye

blood telling round

you could hear it then

was always glory coming

some would say the day

the 'Jabberwocky' Translation Companion!

and look what arrived in the post today! ... big thanks and congratulations to my co-editors, Professor Bjorn Sundmark and Professor Anna Kerchy... and to all the contributors, including Dr You Chengcheng and Dr Chrysogonous Siddha Malilang (also the book's designer)... 'Jabberwocky' in forty something languages, with an essay about each translation. A book the world has long needed is now in existence (thanks to quite a few years of effort) and the heroic helmsmanship of Bjorn! Get it here!

#1787 - another world

1787

another world

as we have dreamt

a matter of fact foretold

where life is larger

land with no bones

time’s race against

just the idea

bung flicker on the wall

wrong told out

how least things overawe

a swim through soundless space

deep in the creature times lies

as in any horizon

and sometimes the right word

was there all along

must be we dreamt together

we must have dreamt it all

#1786 - no questions asked

1786

5.324

20.xi.24

no questions asked

times think things gone

night’s pockets empty

where’s my card, my key?

it’s naked out of hours where

same with the skin

felt here, just there

absent, lost as limb

a fine mist peering

inward

shape it

see where we were

imagined

day will come

as twig rise

when all the edge is fallen

tell self away

not how we’ve come

or will or why

become

a trick

of light

#1785 - time got faster

1785

5.323

19.xi.24

time got faster

in hushed tones

it’s to polish

we slowed down

always further further

to sleep

have you noticed?

time got faster

here’s the wheel

while I invent it

one day we’ll be

a first day gone

a little fire

wings deciduous

I’m just climbing now

time forgot us

tricked past too

sleep the bones

wake the flesh

of the clock

death

is a best prediction

call that my shine

to see
