clepsydra
falling water
ekphrastic for Barbara Árnason’s ‘Icelandic Waterfall’
time’s caught but only so far as we see
it pools here, just for the record
on the wall, as if the world
time has arrived at the foot of a page
etched in
like the circle alive to spread from now
like finger fallen to its fact
splash moss, cling cliff
there’s shade so sun, a curtain cast
the day there all along
to witness
the trouble of no time at all
