in
another world of mine
for dream
catalogue
puzzle the place over
top of the stairs
and squeeze
where I sat
first here
then when I moved
a series of places
priest hole
foxhole
rabbit
rat
worm
slip down
slip away
through
faster than light
there’s nothing but remembering
trying to see, to invent
each place another
never guessing where to be
never guessing where we are
someone said
‘just a teaspoon’
‘just one bad leaf’
time in the other world
isn’t time
aware of where
here’s the half light in my head
every message is coded
it’s true that later no one knows
but we are here and now
where death is my constant companion
and every night
after all our making
we pray ‘let there be light’
