#966 - leaf detail

29.viii.22

966

3.239

leaf detail

ekphrastic for Nicholas Harding’s ‘Eora’

stone of the track

that’s lost in time

the eye is a hunting thing

at every height

in all dimensions

lichen, moss

rots green

a creek slips by

but it’s still here

ferns are climbing out of the frame

branches dead to fall

long ago and now again

not a creature seen

esperanta serio #390 - jen mia ĉapelo, kio estas mia hasto

390

jen mia ĉapelo

kio estas mia hasto?

ĉirkaŭ la momento

fajro kantas

here's my hat

what's my hurry?

around the moment

fire is singing

no stone to set

everyone has an opinion

flowers wreathe it

will sinks in the well

in early hours

stars will be properly bright

none as they are now

when we’re neither here nor really

the whole forest hears us fall

#965 - cumulus congestus

28.viii.22

965

3.238

cumulus congestus

ekphrastic for Clara Adolphi’s ‘Christmas Cloud’

a sea grey sky

very little wisping

all billow

radiance to see

bung symmetries

clouds won’t be caught

they march and queue

like some bright echo

on the way

yet you see them here

they stand to sway

strike meaning

fill the frame

thunder in horizons

how blue high

dissolve like pills

caught by brush come dry

with palette knife

no sail seen

esperanta serio #389 - la invento de sekso

389

la invento de sekso

arbaroj de pelto, vastaĵoj de karno

nenio priskribita havas sencon

stameno kaj pistilo

flirti

tiam

ĉio faris fandiĝojn

kapturna kvieto en la branĉoj

estas flugiloj

beko

kaj malseka pro manko

bleki

jen eterne kaj tago

io elstaranta

io enŝoviĝanta

voku nomojn kaj vi venas al ili

kial finiaj koroj venas sopirantaj

prova perforto

sed ĉu ĝi daŭros?

estas kvazaŭ dormis en via longa mallumo

la ĉiu tendenca trako

ĉiu dolĉa nenio

gastigi

en via kapo

en piĵamo de la nuda menso

montru nur la plej nudan skizon

tuŝu

ĉio en la verda vivo de la arbo

ne mankas momento

kaj tial

ne nur kial ni estas ĉi tie

sed tial ni ankaŭ sopiras al pli

the invention of sex

forests of fur, expanses of flesh

nothing described makes any sense

weren't first songs sung here?

backhoe and dozer

this humility we sweat for

wasn't the first house

umbrella of breezes?

eukaryotes

hail!

single cell god

half a billion years of

stone come to leaf

just this last hour and a half of Earth's long day

when we measured by this still breathing

stamen and pistil

flirt

then

everything made melts

a dizzy stillness in the branches

are wings

beak

and wet with want

bleat

here's forever and a day

sticky out

and sticky in

call names and you come to them

why finite hearts come yearning

a tentative violence

but will it last?

it's as if slept in your long dark

the every tended track

every sweet nothing

to lodge

in your head

in pyjamas of the naked mind

show just the barest outline

touch

all in the tree's green life

not a moment missing

and that's why

not just why we're here

it’s why we yearn for more

#964 - the move

27.viii.22

964

3.237

the move

there is so little of that house

of that day

a winter dark

arrived

we’d never left

had the bright of time to be

a shilling was ten cents

those crooked steps

to trip up, down

someone else’s trouble now

everything medicine in that moment

the plaster flaked, the palings broke

were there tea chests?

was there teddy?

I remember the mud

we were pioneers

cut to rooms

the green grass was bamboo

only half a city away

but Sydney and the bush then

bought into a blank suburb

and someone broke an axle on the day

we would be starting everything again

we were told not to say goodbye

where I’d looked up for an aeroplane

now just the pale of sky
