Ozymandias’ last laugh
for wise surprise
when they come for me
when the knives are out
when they have finally tracked me down
when the past catches up
and there’s the piper to pay
by the time they know what they’re dealing with
what’s what
what they’re up against
once they’ve the inkling whiff
by the time I’m discovered
and there’s this big deal about it all
the hoo ha
when the history books are written
by then
when they’re thinking to griund the bones to make
their meal
…
these legs I’ve had so long will have run themselves
off
all the distance will be dust
I’ll be safely gone
just these few spare signs will remain
