time
is running out
for creatures such as
we all are
things got away
should have thought before
now everywhere
we need to turn it around
too many of us
too few trees
should leave some
where they were
time to call the tipping point
change our ways
come to the place
for each and every
soon all up
time is running out for hope
for river in the runoff
tomorrow – who’s extinct?
must we swim against our own muck?
suck down all the smoke?
we are the unnatural disaster
time is running out for all that’s green and
grows
for everyone in branches
for flower, grass
fish yet to name
for atmosphere
our weather
it’s a two legged mess
down to greed
to ease
time is running out
to stop the plastic tide
to tell the truth we need
to trip the switch
to make okay
to work out what to do
I’ll tell you
chain yourself to the future
maybe there’ll be one then
we must take to the streets
disrupt
time is running out
for trust
for one who climbs
some sunk
one slinks
for under over all
time is running out
to trick fools from their folly
and back to the garden
time is running out for the bush
must say what must be said
to wake the sleepers now
to sound the alarm
time is running out
to do what we must do to make
this just our one world safe
there isn’t another
come creatures
heed if you can hear
time is running out
to free ourselves of all belongings
so we may belong
if we say ‘already too late’
then it will be
but time is running out
